a few thoughts
if you are going to build a new site, do it from the ground up.
You guys have basically cloned LS1GTO, including but not limited to cuting and pasting the old forum rules.
Hell, even Romper started your own "everytime you enter this thread" thread???? Very lame.
Why do there need to be so many mods here? ****, it seems like 5:1 mod:member
All in all - not very impressed.

We wanted the site to be familiar to folks that had been on the other site - but if you took the time to browse the site rather than just signing up to be critical, you would see there are differences. And a lot of people seem to like them. Thanks for signing up.

Well in that case we have 9 total mods so we have 11 total members including admin and mods. Wow your math is terrific!
Actually we have 9:202
If you like LS1gto so much go back to it. No one asked you to join.

Actually.....you yourself and two other of your "mods" asked me to come over!
Not being a dick, just saying, that if you are going to create something new and different, then why all the "cut-n-paste" from LS2GTO?
Why not do something really revolutionary?
Why not do something truely unique?

We ask people to join to contribute to the website. If you dont want to contribute dont worry about it. I also invited Storm Sigma, and several other lounge lizards because I enjoy reading their post even though I disagree the majority of the time. I did not create the website but from what I understand he wanted it to be like the old Ls1gto.com What it was before the corporate pricks bought it.

Meh - I dont disagree with you....I just do not agree with cuting and pasting things from LS2, like the site rules.
This should be new and inventive. A new day.
Not just another cloned site.

Well, shrike, since you signed up to be critical: how do you suggest we make the site new, inventive, and really revolutionary?
I can tell you this: this site is not owned or run by some big corporation interested only in the bottom line. The other site used to be that way, too. But it has become increasingly clear that the corporation now running that site cares only about the money from advertising. I was interested in creating someplace where the hobby, the camaraderie, and talking about our cars comes first - the way it's supposed to be IMHO. If that's not revolutionary enough for you, please feel free to leave.

Shrike, this site was created to be a site for the individual and his or her GTO. The "other" site as you can tell has recently changed and looks extremely compressed, like too much information is trying to be forced on you at once. And, it is. This site is a clean and updated version that is supposed to feel familiar and should be easy to navigate for users of the the "other" site. We are trying to create a community that will have the knowledge base in the GTO technical information sections that will be easy to use and easy to access for you the member, because that knowledge is from you, why should it be hard to get to. The lounge and other sections will be filled with the same people that just may want to have a great time BS'ing with each other. This site was created for you so you would have a familiar place to come and hang out without the AF Nazi's looking over your shoulder and throwing ad's in your face. I can't change your mind about you not liking the site layout, but I do hope you stay for the GTO community, for the people who created it, and mostly for yourself!

The reason this place looks a lot like the other site is because it's what people wanted the other site to be like.
The other site was built up by people who enjoyed the cars and the forum. It evolved into what it was. When the corporate management took over, things changed. But people wanted the forum they had before the change. A lot of people just came over here and picked right up where they left off.
Honestly, I would have been surprised if things had changed dramatically from there to here as far as what kinds of things people choose to post.
Just my $0.02.

I like this site because it is like the other site, I wouldn't want it any other way. If you don't like it go back to the other site and complain to the greedy corporate man, I doubt it would do you any good though, that is unless you offer them some cash.

I love this site and everybody on it .... If you don't like it because you believe it looks like the "other site" than go back. And all the mods here I do and have got along with unlike the others from the other site. So there could be 10 million mods to our 200 members, and if there like the ones we have now than so be it..
GasTiresOil.com FTW!!!
"the other site" FTL!!!!

Wow I walk away for a day... Sorry there are plenty of difference but the biggest of them all that didn't get "copy and pasted" from the other site is the Ads, I see a very uncluttered forum. Think what you would like but the other thing I see here not found over there for a long time is FUN. I enjoy logging on here, it's not a chore. I hope everyone else is having a good time.

Whether this site looks like some other site shouldn't matter. The content and members are what makes the site.
