Svede Intake?

Where do you find this Svede Intake? Anyone else besides Poolshark have one on here? Thoughts on these?

PM Svede1212 he is a member here. He's the guy that makes them. They are sexy and I wouldn't mind one. Unless something has changed since the last time I looked into them you will need to go to a SD tune.

I believe I was the only person with one at GF6 but I am not totally sure as I really didnt get a chance to look at ever single car.

I really dont believe the SD tune is totally necessary. I dont have experience in tuning them but I know there is material out there about tuning them. MAF is better then an SD tune imo (atleast for a daily driver it is) and I will be keeping it MAF tuned if at all possible. I think the svede is a better design that isnt in the same boat as the vararam. I need to read up more on it again and about the tuning specifically. Maybe Svede will chime in here and ile post up some info once I get mine tuned with it on.

I have one as well and it helped propel me to the Stock Bottom End Record. It is one heck of a piece. I would highly recommend!

svede 12 12 otrcai

i have one on my 06 g t o, my ambient temp and iat temp stay very close together, helps with not pulling timing out of motor, my volant air intake did not keep my ambient temp and my iat temp close, the reason i went with svede 1212 otrcai, very happy with his set-up.

I'm interested in this intake. How does the piece look up close? The one I saw seemed a little rough.

Its just fiberglass with paint over it... I think it looks great. Mine does have some light scuffs from the hoodliner wearing on it. It polishes out pretty easy with some plastic shining product.

Yeah I saw the scuffs. I was more concerned with the overall look. I recall it seemed a little handmade (pits and dimples in the fiberglass). I think it would look better painted in a crinkle finish or a flat paint.

If you get one you can always bring it over and I have all the sanding blocks, bondo, and finishing putty to sand it smooth and then we can respray it.

I'll chime in. I make two different units. One is a universal one that fits any GTO '04-'06 with any combination of MAF, TB or manifold. It uses 4" silicone couplers and I add some "adapters" that allow it to fit the stock MAFs. I also make a SD unit that offers a little better profile as I can use the additional space. I have made incremental improvements in the construction and finish as I've gained a lot of practice over the 90 odd units I've made and have constantly experimented with different materials and epoxies. The finish on the latest ones are getting better and altho not perfect it's getting pretty close to it. The top coat is not paint but is epoxy. It offers a very durable finish but it can easily be painted over by first dulling it with a scotch brite and then filled (if desired), primed and painted. I started this out by just making one for myself and then sharing the knowledge but it grew and grew with people wanting me to make them one and I'm a good 6 months behind on orders now. Here's what a MAF and MAFless one looks like now and one that someone blocked and painted. . .

I have one and I was able to fit a 100mm maf with a Fast 92 and nitrous outlet plate kit. I will be tuning the car and running it within the next week or so. I'm anxious to see what the the intake can do on a 427ci motor.

Well the pros and cons of MAF, SD tunes could be debated ad nauseam but the physical difference is with SD the MAF is removed. With the MAF removed it provides another 3-4 inches so that the intake can be more smoothly tapered to the neck. The taper that most people notice is the "V" looking at it from the top. IMHO it is not as important as the taper looking at it from the side from the narrow, wide part where the air goes over the radiator to gain height to match the neck's 4" diameter. It's kind of a fuzzy picture but you get the idea. . .

MAFless Style

Do you have a 427? I'd be interested in hearing about that!

I still cant believe I was the only GTO with one at Goatfest6, I think atleast??? Did anyone else see one other then mine. I was told while I was chit chating with robo that there was a little group of people around my car checking it out.

He makes a maf and mafless for both 04 LS1 and 05/06 LS2. Just need to specify to him what you need.
