Pfadt just released a coilover strut for the Camaro crowd it would be interesting to see if it could be used across platforms since our upper mounts are similar. Does anyone have a G8 spindle mount pic that could be posted up to see if it is similar and could possibly be used in our application.

Here is a pic of Pfadt's coilover for the Camaro.

Well I got a response from Aaron Pfadt and it seems like a pretty good one. It would be nice if an adjustable upper mount with these could be used along with a clevis adapter or a different clevis on the same strut. It seems to me our spindles could be machined to mount this strut on a 30.5mm pad and then re-drilled for a 16mm bolt since the spacing is the same 58mm. Sounds easy enough for me.

Jason,

The 'clevis' on the lower strut to spindle mount is not the same. The holes are 58mm on center, but they are for 16mm bolts. The spread is 30.5mm between them. Also, the upper perch is different between the G8 and Camaro. The whole upper assembly is different, and most importantly, the stud is a different diameter - smaller - and longer for the Camaro.

Everything looks almost identical between the G8 and Camaro, but there are in reality many small differences. I can look at making some adapter pieces to attach a Camaro strut to the GTO. It can probably be done. We're still making our first production batch of Camaro coilovers. Stay in touch and we can look at this in the future.

I do not think the GTO production was large enough to warrant a full development program, but if we can adapt a Camaro unit, that would be nice.

Sincerely,

Interesting. How much do these run? Are our struts the same as the G8 or are all three cars different?
