Let's see some pics of stock wheels that have been modded. Meaning polished, chromed, painted, powdercoated, and/or widened. I've seen some pics here and there but a single topic showing what's possible with what GM gave us might be interesting.

How do they fit in the rear with the extra inch?

And what size tire are you running?

No problem with fit but I do have Pedders 5/16th raised springs and the body shop that works on my car air hammered the lip flat on the rear fenders. That being said, I also use a 5mm spacer to push the wheel away from the inner fender. They may fit without it ... but it would be close.

How much was it to widen them? What was the turn around time?
They look great, by the way.

Polished FTW! I have a ton of time in my wheels but it was well worth it. With my new mods fixing to go on. I'm going to have to sell them or have them widened for more traction.
First pic is the paint stripper at work, Second is when I painted the back sides of the wheels black to make the polished stand out a little more, third is almost done

Have a shot of the car from behind with those on? What did you have to mod on the inner wall to get those on?

I have 17x9 ROH Snypers now. I'm just looking for a drag wheel to fit the ET Street bia plys in 26x11.50-17. I know they fit on the stock wheel, but I'd like to have the extra inch for contact patch.
I might wind up getting another pair of ROH Snypers. They're lighter, and probably cost as much as getting the stockers widened.
I would get 15s, but I don't feel like grinding the caliper and bending brake lines to get the wheels to fit properly. Plus, I'm not a serious drag racer.

.... so how much are people paying to get their wheels widened?
I paid $200/wheel + shipping

Where'd you get them widened and where'd you get them polished and how much? Were they clear coated?

Thank you kjhallex. Better not to clearcoat. I think clearcoat may not stick to something that smooth. Once you have done them you KNOW the work involved. Polished them myself. About 8 - 10 hours each for them to be done right. There is a write up in the other site. Weldcraftwheels.com widens them. Pm me if you need more info.

If you don't clear coat them, won't they start getting dull and pitted pretty quickly?

Actually they are not that bad to keep polished. May polish them every 2-3 months. Maybe different in the winter months if you live up north with alot of salt. Tennessee weather not that bad.

Nice variety of good looking wheels...
Black Chrome, Chrome and polished looks great!
Tom your setup looks very nice...
It something I may consider doing later on at my fathers machine and fab shop...
He has nice aluminum push/pull mig welding system and a good sized weld positioner. Looks like they just split the stock rim in half, and welded it all up with a weld positioner.
I wonder how they actually made the aluminum spacer thats added in... theres a couple ways I could think about how they did it. Either machined it out on a lathe out of a bigger piece, rolled a strip of plate aluminum and welded together, then machined it, or cut it out of a big aluminum pipe and maybe mahcined it after. Maybe its something really simple like using some other wheels... cutting them up and fitting everything together. Anyway they did it... theres still alot of fab work involved, cutting, fitting, grinding, welding, grinding...
The welds are very well done you can tell that and I would almost say for sure they were done on a weld positioner. Aluminum disepates heat so fast its really a PITA to weld without a nice setup. If they did it with MIG and not TIG they had to have a push/pull system so the aluminum doesnt kink in the line while heading toward the MIG gun head. System like this have a small motor in the actual head of the MIG gun that pulls slightly harder then the spool pushs through the line. Thus keeping tension the whole time as to not king the very soft metal.
