My battery gave up the ghost this saturday evening, sunday morning i replaced it and now I get no sound from my stock radio, it does turn on and you can see the display change to different stations but no sound from the speakers. Also the backlight on the radio and the a/c controls do not light up as before, I checked all fuses and they are ok. Anyone have any ideas or have had similar issues?

thanks,

P.S. I know the sound of the exhaust should be enough but sometimes other music is fine.;)

If you have checked all of your fuses and you still have the issue then the battery may have shorted a few item out when it was dieing. Triple check every fuse on the car even those under the hood.

Thanks for the reply, I also noticed today that when I increase the volume level the indicators on the bottom of the screen move when I turn the knob and then all the screen goes off for a second or two and then turns on again. strange stuff going on, I didn't want to get rid of the original radio that's why I did the Aux mod a few months ago but looks as though i will have to anyway. I will check everything out on wednesday again and then go from there.

any word on the issue being resolved?

Not resolved yet, it displays the clock when off but with no backlight, no lights at all at night, and when you turn the unit on it will display the normal stuff like radio freq or cd disk and track but no sound. I tried checking on the bench with the 1111 code and get the same results. I just may just replace it with a DVD DD or single deck/mp3 unit. If anyone has an idea of what else to look for I wouldn't mind the help.

Did you check with a meter, or just look at them?

I always use my trusty Fluke, I wear many hats at Otis, one of them is Automation and Control so I know the fuses and wiring is not the issue.

Sorry, meant no disrespect. Still a lot of people who's fuse checks are visual only. Wish I could be more help, but my exp with stock radios is limited to removal...Good luck!

No problem, thanks for taking the time to comment on the subject, I will probably just go with a double din unit and put the stock unit on the shelf, need something more modern anyway.

Checked the fuse on the back of the radio too?

The unit will not turn on without that fuse, it will display radio stations, time and cd track playing, I just don't get any output from the speakers and there is no L.E.D. lights or screen backlighting when the unit is on.
