So we're both going to have a week off in November and it's time for a trip. So here's some stipulation:
• We want to keep this on the cheaper side (2000-2500ish final tally).
• Has to be warm/hot/swim-able in mid-November.
• Has to be safe. No Mexico City for us.
• Has to be by-on-in an ocean.
Here's a few ideas I already have.
A cruise.
Pros - Very easy and within our budget. Cons - Did one last year. We'd most likely ask another couple to go. Makes the cruises more fun (IMO). Lack of adventure/freedom.
Key West.
Fly to Miami, rent a car and drive to Key West.
Pros - Awesome adventure! Get to see the Keys. Warm weather. New for the both of us.
Cons- Going to be pricey. Most likely in the $3000 range.
So you get the idea. We're open to driving, other countries, flying, biking, whatever.
Lets hear some ideas.

i was going to suggest a cruise, but yah... if you did that last year i understand wanting to do something different.
my friend just got back from mexico a month or so ago, said it was absolutely awesome because of all the swine flu scare going on... very cheap and they had the hotel to themselves pretty much.
he went to playa del carmen for a week, with his GF, and spent less than 2K total.

Paula,
you HAVE to take a cruise before you get too old to really enjoy it (read: ruin your liver)
its the ultimate relaxation session

Some love them, some hate them.
I absolutely love them! When we start making solid money I can imagine it being an every year occurrence. Call it the "easy vacation" that we'll invite friends and family on. Then we'll do a "new" vacation on our own exploring the world. That's the plan at least.

Hey Blev - if you go to the keys, let me know. I've been there annually for 4 years, and going again next summer, so if you need places to go/eat/drink/see, ask me.
Its a very expensive place, however. Always budget higher.
