Quick question...

What's the widest tire size I can put on my stock 18's?

245/40/18 Anything larger will rub your front struts. You can go a little larger in the rear, but then you wouldn't be able to rotate tires front to back.

For the rear you can squeeze a 275 under there but its going to require a little work on the fenders. Usually have to roll them or cut/shave them down a little bit. Sometimes people with a good set of aftermarket springs or drag bags can do it without modifying the fenders. But If you ever load up the car with 4 people theres a good chance your going to rub somewhere... and its usually on the passenger side because of the way the car twists from the torque. Shaved or rolled fenders will take care of that issue... and you wont rub anywhere.

If you do choose to put a 275 tire on your stock 8" wheel... do not drop the pressure down when going to the track, it causes the tire to cup in the middle like an upside down U. Youl actually lose traction not gain any if you drop the pressure down at the track to say.... 25 30. Just leave them at 35 and they will be nice and flat. 275 is the limit for an 8" wheel and some would say not to do it at all but it does work just fine if done correctly.

There are also people with 9" wheels running 295s with small modifications. Usually a 1" shock spacer, rolled/shaved fenders, and some massaging with a hammer inside the wheel well.

Yeah I have 245 40 18's now. I was mainly just thinking about the back anyway. Not really concerned about rotating.

There is a gto with some 275's at the place where I work, and they look awesome on the car. He has the 17's though. But they look MUCH wider than mine.

on a 17" they might have a 9.5" wide wheel which you can put the 275's on em. I have 19" CSL with either an 8.5" or 9" in front and a 9.5" rear. I run 245/35/19 in front and 275/35/19 in the rear. I do rub on massive bumps, but I do everything I can to miss them :D I have also cut the rear fenders and rolled the front fenders.

After I get the BC Coilovers in I am hoping to be able to move to 265's all the way around.
