Yeah, I've decided that my SNLv3 cam is too mild. If I ever get the $$$ together for some heads, I'll step up to something a little wilder too. I am really enthralled by the AI head/tigershark cam combo that propels Jeff Goodell to 500+ rwhp... (the stall converter and 3.91 gears likely help a bit too) but he claims excellent drivability along with....

That's cool, I did some work on the hood need to post up some pics for you to see. Did most of the general reshaping to put the metal back where it belongs. Just the rough beating out with a hammer. Once I am done with that I am going to strip all of the paint and rust after that to start working on the small dents.

Hello everyone...wow I'm a newb again! I'm Michele and I met Chris and was it Lancer? out at 183a this past Saturday night. I'm a regular out there in my Tiburon (yeah I'm a ricer too lol) but I've been driving the Goat exclusively since I got her in September. You guys are awesome you told me so much and I've got to find that shop in San Marcos to do the tune. I hope I can make it to Fredericksburg and I will probably see you all out at 183A next Saturday... gonna be interesting splitting my time cause I'm Austin chapter pres of Hyper Auto Club too.

It was good meeting you Michele, glad to have another Goat in the herd. This summer we will most likely have a BBQ run, and we are looking at meeting up with the East Texas Goats for some tubing down the river, also everyone keep your eyes peeled as I am going to post a Goat Lunch sometime soon. Yeah I figured no one would show up. Sigh. Oh hey I wanted to let you guys know every year my car club does the Laps for Charities at the Texas Motor Speedway twice a year. It is going to be on May 8th. Our time allotment is 5pm and then there is open runs for those who line up at 6. We still have 3 slots left but I know there is a huge group of Goats that run too. Their club will have extra room I'm sure. The donation is $30 for 3 laps on the track to the charity of your choice.

Brian tuned my car last night... found a glaring error in the SNL retune and tweaked a number of other things the way he prefers. Car runs a little better and no longer makes your eyes water at idle. I'll be at next Sat's meet where Brian will tell me if the fixes he made will enable me to pass inspection now... Thanks for the offer on the Georgetown bud... let you know if I need his help.

The meet was a little weak; the weather probably kept some folks away. Two other GTOs showed up along with the usual mixed contingency of other makes. It broke up around 10:00 when some bikers started getting stupid in the parking lot.

You guys sorry I missed you Saturday. I was at Laps for Charities in Dallas. It was off the hook. My other car club ran as the second group and as we pulled off the DFW Goat Herd ran. They sounded vicious out there. Next time I'm bringing both my cars and running with each group if I can pull it off. The pace car kept us around 90 mph but the Goat Herd looked like they we doing around 120 or 140. I went over and met them after their run. The parked across from us as a club and every one of them is awesome like you guys. They just welcomed me over and we all started talking as if we had known each other forever. That is what I love about this group. It's like my other club, everyone is welcomed as family.

I think the cops pretty much told everyone to never come back to the Best Buy.

ive heard and seen that the NSSP cam is pretty good (230/232 .614 .602 114 LSA). i'm really looking for something that'll give me more power (of course) and great sound, without the car feeling like it'll die at any point. of course it doesn't have to be THIS exact cam... whatever you think is recommended would work.
really not trying to spend 350-400 for just the cam. gotta think about springs, etc.

For the cam I would suggest taking your time and having a ride around or at least listening to a few gto's with cams in them to figure out what you are looking for. You have a good tuner so I am pretty sure he will make it behave like you want. Hit up Youtube and have a listen to a lot of them. Once my car is up and running again then you can check it out. Here is the video of my car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzJYWRjAf6k Now mind you I have the LS1, your LS2 can take a larger cam than mine and have very similar attitude.

Like I said I got a good bargin on my cam but it isn't hard to get a price like that as long as you know exactly what you want and if you are able to make sacrifices to what you want to get a price you can live with. I originally wanted a TSP 228R but found the Howards cam with very close specs at a good price so I was willing to live with the difference. What I had decided on was that I did not want a large cam with a 112 LSA. Since I Autocross I needed the power earlier and not later. If I had been looking to drag race as my main form of racing I would have opted for a larger cam.

These are the kind of things you need to weigh with your choice. One thing to watch out for though is asking advice, a lot of people will recommend what they have because it working good for them, but what is good for one person isn't always good for another. So think hard about what your goals are with your car and go from there.

It put down 420 rwhp. I don't remember the torque numbers. We're hoping for more with the right cam. The cam I have was selected before I went with the L92 heads which need a larger exhaust duration.

I dunno. If I go the L92 head and cam route, that along with my stock 243 heads (and upgraded springs) and my ported FAST intake will all be surplus...

Note to get that flat 400 I have kooks LTs, SNL intake, ported MAF and the ported FAST to complement the cam. Not sure how it'd do with lesser parts. I picked up a number of HP just by ditching the stock air intake tract after the cam and FAST install...

The only part I am really not looking forward to is stabbing the transmission. The trans doesn't really weight that much it is only 100 pounds. I would like to have it done and running in time to go wash it and take it to the meet.

I just realized, this past Saturday I got out at 6, that's how I was able to make it out to the meet. This week I actually get out at 8:30pm. :(

You have a transmission jack, I assume? If not, let me know... I have the cheapie HF scissors transmission jack that I could bring along. Stabbing it back in the hole was what took me 3 @#%@# days on my clutch and shifter swap... WalterD even brought a mechanic friend over that couldn't get the thing stabbed back in place. The third day I finally got it to engage. I think that I invented some new swear words during the ordeal.

No I pulled it with a floor jack. Did your clutch tool have splines on it, or was it a peg fitment? I have been told the peg ones suck for trying to get the tranny stabbed.

I have a need to move the GTO in and out of the garage a couple times before I am done. Right now the rear is on jack stands and my wheels aren't ready to have the tires remounted.

Ok...I just talked with Stang2Goat and he declined the offer so here it is.. I work at Napa Auto Parts in Austin. I'm an assistant manager there. One of our guys that does strictly commercial quit without notice 2 weeks ago. We are in dire need of replacing him. If you've got experience selling counter/retail and commericial is crucial, if you know your way around selling parts and can handle long hours we need you. It's a fast-paced, high stress job and I'm betting you make way better at AT&T. They are also looking to hire counter retail peeps up front too. This is working with walk ins, answering commerical, doing inventory and maintaining the store front. Don't be surprised to be thrown in a truck on occassion for deliver either. If you want to talk to me, pm me or if I'm not on cause my hours are long and I don't get to check often, get my number from Lance. I will pm it to him.
