Before I get the "search" replies. I did with no luck. I've never had luck with those forum search engines. My question(s) is after installing a set of long tube headers and catless mids will i get a CEL? Will a tune be necessary right after install? If i get a CEL light will it be ok to drive afterwards or will it go into "limp mode." May be a dumb questions sorry. I do plan on getting a tune afterwards but it may be a few weeks if it want hurt the car. I don't drive it everyday anyways. I just know on my old truck after i installed longtubes i got a CEL but it ran fine still. I did eventually get the o2 sim though.

Yes your going to throw a CEL...
You will be fine running with it on for a short period of time. You could probably go a few months without any problems and you may never have problems. But its still best not to let it go too long. Also I dont know if I would drive it real hard in that time period before its tuned. Probably doesnt matter and everything would be fine, but its better to be safe then sorry.

Yeah - without cats you're definitely going to get the CEL. Also, you may have a lot of popping from your exhaust. You need to get a tune to turn off the checks for the cats and fix the tune for the more efficient exhaust flow.
And by the way - on this site, you can ask questions without people jumping on you about the search function.

Thanks, I'm just going to be driving about 60 miles from where I install the headers then back home park it and the next weekend drive another 60 or so to get it dynoed and tuned.

Yep, thats why I wouldnt drive it hard or get on it at all during that time if you can help it. Dont want to risk something going wrong...

As already stated, you can certainly drive it. You'll without a doubt get the cel. A hand held can tune the rear O2's out. Or just wait till that dyno tune and have the tuner tune them out then.
