So this can answer the what are the part number for my brakes question.

The numbers I am lisiting here are FMSI numbers. What are FMSI numbers? Here is a quote from stoptech's site- "Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) is an association that assigns numbers to different pad shapes that are used as a guideline for pad manufacturers to refer to, and bring a common numbering system to the brake pad aftermarket. Virtually every pad manufacturer will either use the FMSI number in their numbering system or have a readily available interchange to cross-reference their part number to the FMSI number."

These FMSI numbers are all for STOCK applications-

FMSI For the corvette C5 z06 and non z06 1997 to 2004-
Front 731
Rear 732

FMSI For the corvette C6 non z06 1998 to current-
Front 731
Rear 732

FMSI for 2004 GTO
Front 1043
Rear 1048

FMSI for 2005-2006 GTO
Front 731
Rear 1048

Now as it's been noted in internet forums the 2004 GTO can actually use a 731 pad for the front application. The difference in the physical dimension of the part number for a 2004 (1043) pad vs. 2005/2006 (731) pad is that the 1043 pad is slightly taller (.04 of an inch) then the 731 pad. All the other dimensions of the two part numbers are practically the same.

Why did i list the corvette FMSI numbers above? Because sometimes it easier to ask for the "vette pads" from whomever your dealing with or they might not have an application listed for the GTO but they do for the corvette. With that said, you should be able to use any front pad for a c5/c6(non zo6) application (years 1997-current) on the 2004-2006 gto. The rear pads for a c5/c6 definitely don't match the rear of any year of the GTO. This also doesn't address actual calipers either.

Something to be aware of is that sometimes you will have to cut off the wear tab off that are on some vette pads to get them to fit correctly.

Let me give you some example of specific part numbers from manufactures so you can see how they use the FMSI number-

Raybestos Advanced Technology- ATD731AC
Performance Friction "Z"- 0731.10
Porterfield R4S- AP731.R4S
Monroe Ceramic Premium- CX731

The following companies don't follow FMSI numbering.

HAWK- "X" equals whatever model in thier product line
They use part number HB247X.575
