So my coworker has a desk calendar called Stuff White People Like. I couldn't help but think of peeps when I read today's entry.
Grammar
White people love rules. It explains why they get so upset when people cut in line, why they tip so religiously, and why they become lawyers. But without a doubt, the rule system that white people love the most is grammar. It is in their blood not only to use perfect grammar but also to spend significant portions of time pointing out the errors of others.
When asking someone about their biggest annoyances in life, you might expect responses like "hunger," "being poor," or "getting shot." If you ask a white person, the most common response will likely be "people who us 'their' when they mean 'there.' Maybe comma splices, I'm not sure but it's definitely one of the two."
Another important thing to know is that when white people read magazines and books they are always looking for grammar and spelling mistakes. In fact, one of the greatest joys a white person can experience is to catch a grammar mistake in a major publication.

I'm not white, but I noticed that "us" should've been "use." :D

Yes. Yes, that sounds just like Peeps. I have learned tolerance over the years and now i over look stuff like that. and it actually annoys me when people point it out all the time and harp on it. once is enough. but the greatest victim of poor grammer is Firefly.... everyone beat him up. not annoying but it was funny. Stephen finally got spell check...

Typically, I do it in jest to pick on friends of mine (or annoy them as they likely see it) or when the typo/mistake creates a funny or misleading meaning that I can twist....
AND IT IS "peeps" DAMMIT!!! :)

I find that grammar nazis are in two categories. In the first category you have people who think they are always right and want to show you how right they are and in the second category you have people who are just plain annoying.
I can be a control freak but not that much of a control freak...

That's just plain racist. I don't see it as a "white" thing or anything that has to do with race. I think it has more to do with being educated.

This does solve a mystery that has perplexed me for some time. Now I know everyone of DFWStangs is a white person. They don't even really talk about cars, just grammer. Back up in Eastern Kentucky we ain't really worried that much bout it. We'z too far up the crek to argue much. Also I didn't realize me and several million other eastern kentuckians were not white, sheesh. I did know our whiskey was white.
