So I'm finally going to buy headers and I was curious if there are clearance issues with the stepped headers and the steering rack. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not that I have seen. There are three cars here in town that have them that I know of, one that I helped install. I have the 1 3/4", and no issues at all.

Just installed the kooks stepped headers on my 06 three weeks ago and the drivers side header is a pita to get in, but it fits nicely, once installed. There was one bolt on a brace that gave the mechanic some trouble, but other than that everything fits just fine. You'll love those headers! :D

Thanks for the info guys! Most of the local guys have ether the 1-3/4 or pacesetters so I don't have a reference.

i have the stepped headers and this is what i have experienced with my install. make sure the brace bolts do not touch, if they do just cut them a little. also make sure when you bolt the rack back on, that the lines do not hit the headers. you can adjust this by moving the rack slightly to the right. when you are under there you will see what i mean. other than that you will be fine.

Yeah I saw the issue with the brace bolts while reading install threads on the other site. Is there enough room to get a dremel in there? Thanks again.

My brace bolts touched, and my steering rack hits on slower right-hand turns some times.
I think that will all change with my new motor mounts, though.

yeah with the headers off there is plenty of room. a sawz-all would work too.

Mine had the same problem and I changed out the MM to the ones rocksand racing have. With that one change I no longer have an issue with the engine moving around.

I agree with the other posts. I have the 1 & 3/4 variety and had an issue with one of the brace bolts, which had to be cut down a bit. The fit around the steering was tight but worked.
