The shooter was a Major....and did not want to be deployed and had just converted to Islam, that I just heard on news.

No way, he converted to Islam? I don't know, the assumptions that he did that sort of make it to where we're trying to point fingers to another country again, and not take responsibility for our own actions in forcing our troops to do so many tours and what not, yes i know they signed up for war, but the human mind can only take so much before they snap.

I don't think they are trying to point fingers to another country, they are only looking at his entire background to try to get a handle on this.

Yeah, we have a couple who come to the Austin Goat herd meets. I'm hoping they are OK. Like you said, hope to hear something from them soon.

I just can't understand how a military officer, especially in the medical field who treated PTSD, could ever do anything like this. What a tragedy. Keep the families of those killed and wounded in your prayers.

12 killed, 31 injured... My prayers are sent to all the soldiers and their families.

I just don't see how with all the military there why they weren't able to get them before they killed/injured that many people. I think whenever the shooters are shooting to kill, that we stop trying to just put them in jail, and just shoot to kill their asses. If they are shooting to kill they obviously have nothing to lose and we should just end their misery whenever it comes to things like this.

We could ask all sorts of questions, but it is what it is, we weren't there to know how it went down, and I am sure if they could have over come him they would have.

The problem is that guns aren't allowed on the base unless for training purposes, so everyone was unarmed. Trust me if anyone would have had a gun that ****** would have gone down a lot sooner.

Yeah, the people on guard duty have weapons too, I have seen them carry their M16's M-4's.

Anyone hear of the EMT that got fired because she shot the guy? Reason she got fired was because they aren't supposed to carry guns at all and well even though she put a stop to the madness they still fired her and that was their way of thanking her for doing something about the situation...that's just what i heard from someone i was talking to about this earlier.

Where'd you hear that? CNN reports a female officer wa a first responder:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/06/fort.hood.munley/index.html
The police officer who ended the Fort Hood massacre by shooting the suspect is known as the enforcer on her street, a "tough woman" who patrolled her neighborhood and once stopped burglars at her house.

He didn't convert to islam he was born a muslim here in the states. Seems to be he was bothered by the fact he was going to deploy to afghanistan late this month. He was working at walter reed and got a poor performance evaluation so they sent him down here to ft hood as a "demotion". The good thing is he's alive so they can prosecute his a** i hope he gets lethal injection or even better electric chair . The sad thing is that he's never even been deployed so he cant pull the ptsd card.

I was in that building when i got back in August and let me tell you that place gets super packed with long lines at every station.

Yea media always has everything wrong when it first goes down. I remember hearing that there were 3 shooters on the loose with over 500 rounds lol.
