So I was recently in a wreck in my GTO a while back and the insurance company provided me with $956 to replace my stock exhaust with a brand new GM stock exhaust. My body shop let me have that money to buy a Corsa Sport Exhaust instead of wasting it on another stock one.

As much as I want the Corsa Sport Exhaust I dont really need it and I could easily find a replacment stock exhaust for around 100 in the houston area.

Currently I need to replace my clutch assembly (clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel) and all the other things that should be pretty much mandatory when your dropping the transmission. Things like slave cylinder, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, s/s clutch line, s/s remote bleeder, pressure plate and flywheel bolts.

So I have sat and calculated it out...

Either spend 1k on a nice exhaust that I dont need or...

450.00 + Shipping for used Textralia OZ700 Z- Grip clutch assembly with 8k miles
70.00 for F-Body slave clyinder
49.99 for S/S Tick Performance Remote Clutch SPEEDbleeder Line
31.99 for Throw-out bearing
10.99 for Pilot Bearing
4.99 for Alignment Tool
19.99 for new GM Pressure Plate and Flywheel Bolts
30.00 (Aprox. Price) for 3' of PTFE S/S Braided Hose W/Type 304 SS Braid Swivel Male X Male 1/4 NPT Fitting, 1/4" ID, 3000 PSI (via McMaster Carr Catalog) Part #4468K648

Thats $668 right there in clutch stuff not including shipping... with shipping I was going to say around 700-750 total for going the clutch/drivetrain upgrade route. Also if I go this route I can plan on buying a stock exhaust for around 100 locally... so its closer to 800-850 total going this way but its stuff that is truly needed.

In regards to the clutch line above... I am not totally certain this is exactly whats needed for a clutch line but I am pretty certain. The connections into the slave and master is 1/4 NPT correct??? I was just looking for a cheaper way to get the same product everyone is selling for $100.

Mc Master Carr Catalog is great and has a ton of stuff. Heres a link to what exactly I am looking at...

http://www.mcmaster.com/#4468k648/=464fxh

Look on the bottom right hand side in the "Smooth-Bore PTFE Hose with Stainless Steel Wire Braid" section, under " Swivel Male on Both Ends" Is 1/4 ID S/S braided hose what we need to use or is it 3/8's??? If that isnt it I am fairly certain there is what we need right on that page or somewhere close. They have many special fittings also...

I have 38k on the stock clutch and related parts that go along with it. I get the mushy feeling after WoT pulls and I know the clutch is probably toast even if it does ok for DD. So should I go for the exhaust and plan on doing the whole clutch/drivetrain upgrade as soon as possible or vise versa???

Thanks for help!

P.S. I hope that Mc Master Carr Catalog can help some people pick up hard to find parts and hopefully an easy affordable option for S/S Clutch lines.

Going by what you've posted, I would go with the clutch and stock exhaust.

Hell, afgun in Austin was gonna sell me his for 100 bucks. I thought about taking a trip out there to get it, but the only things I need are time, and a truck. My S10 might not make it all the way there and back. Even so, you can find 'em in Houston for cheap. Good luck, man.

I dont have the cash to be dropping 700+ on just the clutch assembly. This clutch is a much better bang for buck considering I was planning on an LS7 assembly. Although I might buy all the extra stuff from them... that would be a good idea. Tex O700 Z Grip is a much better clutch then the LS7 and for 450 I dont think im going to pass it up.

Alright well it sounds like you already know what you want to do. If you need a clutch, than I'd say go for it. I personally would go with Monster or one of Hendrix's clutchs. I personally have never heard anything about the Tex 0700 Z Grip or whatever, but to each there own.

I didnt know anything about them until recently while doing some research and reading peoples reviews. Everyone seems very happy with Textralia clutches and its Australian to boot. Once I get it I will post some feedback on it if you guys want me to. Every review I read praises how smooth it is, close to stock feel and how much it grabs.

I have never heard of Raybestos brand... I am kinda skeptical as to their quality and if its worth saving 20 bucks instead of getting something like AC Delco, Dorman or Perfection Clutch.

Theres also one for 55 on amazon with free shipping...

Just get the LS7. It will hold up, especially with the little amount of mods you have. I'm trapping 114-115 in the 1/4 and my LS7 is holding up great. Gene Culley runs deals on them all the time.

By the way, you don't need a throw-out bearing. Just a pilot.

As for Raybestos, I love their brakes. I wouldn't hesitate to get it. It is probably coming from the same manufacturer as AC Delco, just sold under the Raybestos name.

Hmm buying a "used" clutch.....i would probably want to know the background on why the clutch was removed in the first place etc etc. Ive had 2 Textrailias so far and the first one self destructed from all its chattering because i was driving it way too nice on the street, the second i make sure i get it real hot at least once a week and drive it alot more aggressively than the last one and it has held up to 500rwhp motor only races to 500rwhp + 150shot races absolutely flawlessly. I raced an Ls7 gto 4 or 5 times within 10 minutes from a dig launching hard and had no clutch fade no sticky pedal or anything drove off like nothing happen. I would just beware of buying a "used" high performance clutch, i guess the only way i would buy it, is if the car got wrecked and the clutch was taken out because of the accident.
